The Opportunity We are seeking a dynamic Senior Director of Talent Development & Employee Experience to co-create a forward-thinking, employee-focused Human Resources organization that serves student success by finding, keeping, and growing talented administrators, educators, and staff. Our Senior Director of Talent Development & Employee Experience is a key member of the HR leadership team, partnering with the Chief Human Resources Officer in a major HR transformation effort. This re-imagined role will be responsible for building an HR talent development and employee experience function that is exceptional at delivering on the promise to attract, engage, and grow a diverse and drive workforce throughout the District. Working closely with the HR leadership team and key leaders throughout the District, the Senior Director of Talent Development & Employee Experience will ensure strategy and delivery of exceptional employee experience and a richly diverse, inclusionary workforce to support the district's education and equity initiatives. Responsibilities * Work in close collaboration with the CHRO and other HR leaders to design and deliver outstanding Talent Development services to the organization * Oversee Talent Development & Employee Experience leaders and teams responsible for wide array of program support and administration, including diversity and inclusion, employee experience, employer brand and attraction, organizational learning, learning administration, leadership development, career development and succession planning, and performance management. * Lead the strategy, implementation, and operations of the organizational learning and leadership areas, transforming the infrastructure and teams in partnership with the Senior Director, Professional Learning to deliver key learning and development opportunities to all professional educators, administrators, leaders, and staff. * Design and build the candidate and employee value propositions and experience, including support team structure. * Develop and maintain key community partnerships to support workforce equity, diversity, and inclusion. * Develop the employee engagement strategy, including measurement and improvement. * Design and lead the development of a cohesive performance management approach throughout the District. * Build organizational development and change management capacity within the organization and design a deployment model that allows resources to be shared throughout the organization. * Find, develop, manage, and grow talented staff within the Talent Development & Employee Experience function; build organizational capability to develop/maintain a highly effective team of Benefit/HRIS/Administration/Support professionals. * Serve as a thought partner to leaders and stakeholders across the district on Talent Development and Employee Experience. * Demonstrate a commitment to the Portland Public Schools Equity Initiative by developing a thorough knowledge and application of the district Racial Educational Equity Policy and other board policies; participate in staff development, in-services and trainings related to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and in K-12 education; model appropriate behaviors; develop, recommend and implement improvements to human resources practices with awareness and understanding of their impact in a racially and culturally diverse community. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. * 10+ years of progressively increasing responsibility for talent attraction, talent management, employee experience, learning and development, or related areas * Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated record of selecting, growing, and managing multiple levels of employees, including other managers * Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently. * Strategic and analytical skills with the ability to resolve a wide variety of complex issues or problems. * Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization including senior leadership. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills including negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and presentations skills. * Ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding, constantly changing environment. Desired Qualifications * Masters degree in human resources, organizational psychology, or other related area * Experience designing and building a talent development function * Experience managing director-level reports * Experience in K-12 public education or a large, multi-unit public sector organization Any other combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the candidate is likely to possess the skill, knowledge, ability and trait characteristics essential for this classification may be considered. CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY This position is classified as a Senior Director on the Senior Leadership salary schedule FLSA Exempt. New hires are typically placed at step 1: $118,500 annually.
