Position Summary:

Assist in the implementation of Kroger policies/programs to ensure regulatory compliance is adhered to for apparel products that are covered under federal/state regulations. Assist the Quality Assurance manager (QAM) in working with Kroger procurement, product development, import and other departments to ensure proper testing programs/procedures are in place for both regulatory and quality attributes. Demonstrate the companys core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform duties that support the Quality Assurance team
  • Create and maintain numerous period and quarterly reports
  • Assist in tracking updates and new legislation/regulations related to consumer products
  • Assist in approving ethics/technical audits
  • Assist in approving factories for production
  • Work with the QAM to schedule announced and un-announced factory site visits
  • Keep current on social/human rights issues within each country Kroger does business with
  • Work with the QAM to maintain audit tracker reports; follow up on cap closures, audit expirations, factory changes and re-audits
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure factory practices remain transparent
  • Help implement/follow up on factories involvement in community and social welfare programs
  • Work with the QAM to manage/advise vendors on vendor scorecard levels
  • Assist in approving factories final inspections
  • Help QAMs issue approval to ship certifications
  • Assist with onboarding new vendors
  • Assist in testing seasonal fabric garments and troubleshooting fabric/garment failures
  • Work with Product Development and Production teams on potential issues
  • Help maintain relationships with testing laboratories, so they effectively understand and execute Kroger testing requirements
  • Assist in analyzing testing costs; reduce testing expenses through education and by leveraging efficiencies
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and provide suggestions for improvement
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelors degree or 3 years work history in general merchandise, design/buying, compliance, sourcing and/or supply chain
  • Strong knowledge of current federal, California and other state regulations as related to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), California Proposition 65, etc.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret CPSC and state regulations/laws
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-regulatory audiences (e.g., merchandisers, operators, Corporate Brands associates, etc.)
  • Proficient Microsoft Windows, Office and Internet Explorer skills

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

  • Bachelors degree in chemical, mechanical, textile or material engineering, chemistry or biology
  • Experience in general merchandise product compliance
